Upon the arrival of the Saints in the Valley, a place was selected for the building of a temple. The first years in the valley were a trial. The Saints dealt with crickets and grasshoppers, as well as the temptations of California and Gold. Despite the challenges, they persevered. Missionaries accepted calls to serve throughout the world. John Taylor became the Third President of the Church.
