This website is designed to assist teachers and students of the scriptures. The format is set up to provide increased information on the important topics in any given chapter of scripture. Specific quotes from the General Authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as well as scholars in the field of study are provided to give insight regarding the validity of the doctrine being addressed. It is recommended that the reader read the related scripture with the commentary provided in the lesson in order to gain the maximum benefit from the presentation. Remember truth is best discovered when both the head and the heart work in unison. Repetition is one way in which the Lord teaches, so it will not be unusual that a topic addressed in one lesson may also surface again in a latter lesson. Sometime we need to hear/read something several time before we truly understand what the Lord is trying to teach us.

It is the experience of the author/editor of this website that many Sunday School classes and gospel discussions get sidetracked from a meaningful focus upon the scriptures to other less important discussions. There are many profound truths to be found in a study of the scriptures that only surface when we sincerely focus our attention upon them. The teachers who had the greatest impact on my learning experience were those who were prepare and focused on two or three main topics than by trying to cover a myriad of different topics, only to find that the time has elapsed and the student has little to take home with them. It is hoped that this website will help improve gospel discussions; improve personal scripture study and increase understanding of the doctrine of the Church.

One might argue that this website offers nothing new; that doctrinal commentaries have already been written by more credible authors. This statement is true. There does already exist a great body of literature written to help each of us to better understand the scriptures. What makes this work unique is its availability on the internet; the scripture under focus is included, and there is a collection of quotes from many different sources in order to highlight what the prophets are teaching. It may however not fit your needs. I realize that you have many options from which to choose. If however, you have any comments or constructive thoughts regarding the material, particularly if you’re sure that false doctrine is being taught on the website, please let me know by using the online form on this website so corrections can be made.

Lastly, I need to explain the big picture for this website. Work has already begun on the New Testament which will then be followed by the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants within Church History. Please feel free to check back for updates.
